            My
              Daughter-in-law's father brought
me a huge load of driftwood and I
planted this piece with trailing Lobelia.
              Thanks Eddie! |

               Nothing stays the same
for long in my garden.  This year (2005) we had to remove a
spruce tree due to disease, and we moved our squirrel bench to
              accommodate the extra space! |

            A
particularly lush area in one of my Shade gardens.  Hostas
and Ostrich Ferns grow freely. |
            This long
piece of driftwood adds a nice 'barrier' to the shady area under
the spruce trees. Ferns are naturalizing in this area, and I hope
to soon make it home to a Fairy Village. |

               Due to poplar root
problems in our front yard (2005), we decided to work with the
root damage and covered part of the front yard with tarp/plastic
and mulch, making our own little "coral". |
            A view of
the front yard, looking towards the street.    |

                 This year (2006) was
                the year!
We had this 27 year old, 50' Laurel
Leaf Poplar that was dying and needed to be brought down in the
                backyard.
You can see the tree guy up in the middle of the tree tying off
                branches.
                A very sad day!

                 Good news
however.  The tree guys knew how much this tree meant to
the wildlife in my yard (and me) and left some stumps to hang
feeders on.  They said the stumps should branch out and
will be easy to keep trimmed at a reasonable height.  They
figure I should get another 10 years out of it. |
