Makada Place is located at 162 Black Lake Road in
Walden. This program is home to four individual with a diagnosis
of developmental disability. This home also offers behavioral
supports. The program seeks to teach independence in areas of
personal care, social and development, communication development,
tri-motor development, health and independent living skills.
Program plans are tailored to the specific needs of the
individual with emphasis placed on learning within an atmosphere that
fosters as close as possible normalized routines and home like setting.
Given the behavioural needs of many of the clientele
emphasis is place on the applied behaviour management strategies and
programming with particular attention given to the least intrusive
treatment model of services delivery.
A full range of community services accessed with the
residential staff being responsible to oversee the case management needs
of the residents. Services are monitored and delivered through the
life plan process which seeks to involve the resident, significant
others and all stake holders in the planning process. Life Plans
are formally reviewed on a minimum bi-annual basis.
Makada has a day program component that also supports
individuals within the community.
