Amica Place
located on
Trottier Street
in Azilda is home to six individuals who in addition to a primary
diagnosis of developmental disability have a secondary either psychiatric
or behavioral disorders. This
program seeks to provide services to those individuals requiring settings
that are more specialized to deal with severe behavioral disorders.
All
programs components are based on the functioning level of the individual
and their ability to function effectively within their environment.
The
key components of this program are as follows:
A)
The development and implementation of
behavioral programs specific to the needs of
the individual
B)
Life skills training i.e.: hygiene and
personal care, cooking, cleaning, community awareness and orientation
C)
Interpersonal and intra personal skill
development i.e.: communication skills, problem solving skills, relational
skills, sexuality, etc.
