5th
ANNUAL HAUNTED HOUSE
OCTOBER
28, 29 & 30, 2005 |
|
|
|
Over 1000 people are expected to visit the 5th
Annual “Ghost Ship” Haunted House which will be held on the top floor
of the Senator Rheal Belisle Centre in
Blezard
Valley
this weekend. The event is held every year to raise money for the Our
Place Day Program which is operated by Community Living Greater Sudbury
for developmentally challenged individuals. Here, Lisa Drolet is shown
volunteering her time constructing the Gold Room, one of the seven rooms
in the 1200 square foot auditorium in which the Haunted House is
displayed. Lisa is also a CLGS Developmental Services Worker responsible
for clients at the
Carl Street
and Evershed House locations. Lisa and her friend, Kim Croteau will have
each put in over 50 hours preparing their room alone. She will also be a
Tour Guide while the Haunted House is open to the public on Friday,
October 28 from
6
to
9 p.m.
and on Saturday and Sunday from
2
to
8 p.m.
Admission is only $5.00. There will also be barbecue food and refreshments
available for visitors. Wade and Deborah Moxam coordinate the efforts of
over 100 volunteers during about 200 hours of preparation time to make the
Haunted House one of the most popular attractions in the region during
Halloween. Lisa, 22, has been working for the association for well over a
year. “I knew from the time I was 12 that this is the kind of career I
wanted,” she explained. “It is so satisfying to help improve the
quality of life for developmentally challenged people. I am glad I can
make a difference in their lives.” Make sure you take time to bring your
children to the Haunted House this Friday, Saturday or Sunday. For more
information you can call Deborah at 897-6108.
