Mac said "No way! It must have rolled past the hole."
As the group of men started walking up the fairway Mac spotted a couple
of golf balls on the green. As he and two of the others walked onto the
green, Mac went up to each of the golf balls to check to see if it was
his. One of the others persons stated, "I told you. It went in the
hole. Check the hole."
Mac still didn't believe the man, but after seeing that his ball was
nowhere to be found, he decided to look into the cup. And to his
astonishment...there was his ball!
It was the second hole-in-one Mac has ever recorded. The first was at
the old "Sudbury Highlands" Golf Club. This, however, was on a
Par 4, which is indeed unusual. Most are recorded on Par 3's.
While Mac was ecstatic about the hole-in-one, he was also a bit
relieved that there were witnesses to his feat. Had he accomplished the
hole-in-one while playing along, as he did on all of the other holes, it
could have been his worst nightmare. No golfer wants to experience the
thrill of a hole-in-one with no witnesses.
Congratulations to Mac Bell. A shot he will always remember. |
