Rory
Kelly, one of the star forwards with the Capreol Hawks Midget ‘A’
team, received the prestigious Steve Telenko Memorial Award from local
hockey enthusiast, Roland McKinnon.
The
Steve Telenko Memorial Award is given to the Capreol midget player who
best displays sportsmanship and ability during the Annual Capreol Midget
Tournament.
According
to coach, Richie Mayotte, “Rory is most deserving of this award. He
always gives 100% game in and game out.”
For
Rory Kelly, who is currently attending Grade 12 at St. Charles College,
this may well be the final year of playing organized hockey. The award
along with setting up the winning goal in the championship game to
capture the gold medal with a 3 to 2 victory over Sudbury’s Cortina
Wolves, were the highlights of his long career in the Capreol Minor
Hockey Program.
Former
winners of the award include familiar names such as: Mike Cappadocia,
Mike Ciotti, Adam Barker, Sean Parson, Norm Denney, Brad McInnis, Kevin
Levac, Doug MacDonald, Cary DelPapa, Craig Thomas, Ryan Greenhalgh,
Duane Verbiwski, Kyle Kitchen, Kevin Lynch, Bert Rainville, Andre
Prevost, Peter Dergnac and Curtis Brownrigg.
