Young
8 year-old Felix Huot, prepares to entertain the dozens of spectators
during the Hanmer Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Youth Talent Show
at the 26th Annual Winter Fair Weekend on February 4 held at
the Emily Street hall.
Felix
was one of over 22 talented youngsters between the age of 8 and 18 who
took part in the talent show. All participants received a plaque as a
memento of their experience.
With
Felix in the photo is Ladies’ Auxiliary President, Nicole Chartier, and
Gilles Coutu, who entertained the adults all weekend with karaoke. Gilles
is a well known Valley East performer.
Singers
included: Krystal Henry, Lyndsay Brabant, Stacy Kosmerly, Katryn Stephen,
Stephanie Armstrong, Kasandra Sherson, Brigitte Brunet, Sarah Young,
Christine Carriere, Ashley Young, Melissa Berube, and Renee Frappier.
Performing
on the violin were Nicholas Huot, Felix Huot, Krystal Sherson and Graydon
Hynes.
Other
entertainers included: Jessica Brisson, Maghan St. Amour and Samantha
Pellerin (singing & dancing); Stephanie Fournier & Chantal Dumas
(singing & dancing); Dan Blais (vocal guitar); and Jordon Hynes (step
dancing).
Nicole
Chartier has been organizing the youth talent shows during the summer and
winter fairs hosted by the Knights of Columbus for more years than she can
remember. The shows are intended to promote talented youths and give them
experience at performing in front of an audience. Many of the youth
performers have continued to participate in adult contests throughout
their life.
The
Knights of Columbus Council 5005 Winter Fair attracted thousands of people
to the various events organized throughout the weekend. The Winter Fair
along with the Summer Festival are among the two biggest events of the
year in Valley East. These celebrations will become more important in
future years as we struggle to maintain our identity now that we have been
amalgamated under the umbrella of the City of Greater Sudbury.
