Pierre
Charette, shown on the left, owner of Imprimerie Vision Printing and The
Vision Paper, and Warren Kirwan, founder and owner of Infocom Canada, a
local web site design and management company, have teamed up in an
exciting venture which is certain to have a tremendous impact on the
entire community.
For the past eight years, The Vision Community Paper
has been delivered to your home, providing readers with the latest in
stories and information of interest about people and events in Valley
East and Capreol. The Vision Paper has developed a solid reputation over
the years as the ‘Voice of the Community’ and is now prepared to
enter the rapidly expanding world of cyber space to bring you a new
dimension in communication.
"We’re all very excited about the options that
are now available to us as a result of the decision to go online,"
explained Pierre Charette, owner of Imprimerie Vision Printing and The
Vision Community Paper. "The weekly paper will continue to provide
the excellent level of service that the community has come to expect,
but adding the new internet site will definitely give us tremendous
flexibility in meeting the needs of our readers."
Infocom Canada is a new web site design and management
company founded by Warren Kirwan, a lifelong resident of Valley East who
recently graduated from the Business and Commerce Program at Laurentian
University.
"We have designed a web site which is not only
easy to use, but will contain important information that will be of
interest to every sector of the community," stated Kirwan, who is
well-known in the community through his involvement in sports.
"Over the next couple of months we plan on
meeting with representatives of different organizations in Valley East
and Capreol to discuss how we can put the power of the internet at their
disposal.
Located at the ‘Online’ Edition will contain past
articles and photos from the Vision Paper, editorials by Robert Kirwan,
a wide variety of interesting links, and special sections dedicated to
minor sports and other organizations. If it is happening in the
community, it will be on the web site! You will even find all you want
to know about local candidates for the municipal election on a special
‘Elections 2000' site.
One of the most exciting features of the site is the
‘Valley East Cyber Mall’, which will contain a separate web page for
each business and organization serving the community of Valley East.
This is a free service compliments of The Vision Paper ‘Online Edition’.
Visitors to the site will be able to stroll cyber style through the mall
which will contain photos and a description of the products and services
available to area residents. Businesses and organizations can get in on
this free service by simply calling Warren at 969-7215 and arranging for
a meeting.
The use of the internet is growing rapidly. No longer
are people using this form of communication for entertainment only. They
are relying more and more on their computer for up-to-date information
in order to deal with their personal day-to-day activities. The Vision
Paper ‘Online’ Edition is destined to quickly become the ‘Cyber
Voice of the Community’ as expands to provide a communication system
which will link every segment of Valley East.
"The secret to the success of The Vision Paper
‘Online’ Edition will be in our ability to include as many sources
of information as possible so that virtually everyone will find
something useful about the site," explained Kirwan. "If anyone
has any suggestions on how we can make the site even more useful, we
have provided them with easy email access in order to get us those
recommendations."
"This is an exciting time in the communication
business," commented Charette. "It seems as if newspapers
everywhere are merging with television, internet and radio companies to
form multi-media enterprises in order to provide the ultimate in service
to their customers. Our joint venture with Infocom Canada to create The
Vision Paper ‘Online’ Edition may be a small step in terms of the
entire media-world, but it is a giant leap for Valley East. This will
launch us into the future and enable us to give our customers and
readers the best of both worlds - a weekly community paper and a
comprehensive 24-hour a day web site service.
Kirwan agreed, "The future has arrived in Valley
East, and we intend to give our friends and neighbours the kind of
service they deserve with a web site which will be the envy of other
communities."
