Autumn Evenings A Perfect Time To Take A Stroll Along Valley East Centennial Trail

After being opened for an entire year, it appears as if the founders of the Valley East Community Trails Association, who always felt that the people who will benefit the most from the establishment of a network of trails in this City were our children should feel very proud of what they have accomplished. Not only have children enjoyed an improved quality of life from using the trail, but many adults have benefited as well.

The Vision recalls the symbolization of this future perspective on the efforts of the founders in that a group of young boys and girls were front and centre for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the Molson’s Trail at Centennial Arena on July 24, 1999. The participants were: Mike Lauzon, President of the Association, Stephane Villeneuve, Anna Villeneuve, Jessica Falcioni, Joshua Bens, Shannyn Falcioni, Cortney Falcioni, Raina Armstrong and Bob Dykstra, Secretary/Treasurer of the Association.

"Our association would like to invite all residents of Valley East and their friends to go for a walk or ride their bicycles on this beautiful nature trail," stated Bob Dykstra in a statement released following completion of the trail. "It’s a great way to unwind after a busy day. Bring the children for some adventure. This trail starts between the baseball fields at Centennial Arena. It winds its way through the wooded hills for half a kilometre then emerges from the forest on the south side of the arena."

The other portion of the trail begins at the Recreation Centre. Both sites are perfect spots for peaceful evening walks during the autumn weeks that are on their way. You can get some exercise while enjoying the transition of the forest from one season to the next. Make sure you take in this wonderful part of our community with your entire family soon.
