4th Annual House Draw Will Close The Book On Fund-Raising For Local Parish

Housedraw.jpg (44463 bytes)For the past four years, the Ste-Marguerite - d’Youville Parish has been generating excitement throughout the region with its annual house draw to raise money for the construction of its new church. This year, even as the tickets are being sold on the $250,000 home in Dominion Parc Subdivision, the roof is being raised on their beautiful new facility on Highway 69N.

The garage door was hardly open at 4026 Classic Parkway on September 16 to signal the beginning of the ticket sales, before hundreds of early-birds flocked to the site to tour the building and get their ticket before they were gone. Hot dogs and refreshments were provided to all who attended the grand opening. Joffre Patre, shown in the above photo, stands by watching his daughter Carole and Gilles Rieux prepare another tasty treat for a satisfied customer.

A total of 5000 tickets will be available at a cost of $100 each. By the time the winning ticket is drawn, no less than 184 prizes valued at over $300,000 will have been handed out to lucky patrons. The first early bird draw will be held on November 19, at which time 91 winners will be announced.Paroisse.jpg (46903 bytes)

If all goes well with construction, the grand prize draw will take place on Christmas Eve in the new church.

Ste. Marguerite-d’Youville Parish was created in 1992 after uniting two parishes from Val Caron and Val Therese. Since that time, the new parish has been involved in many successful fund-raising activities to finance the construction of their new church.

According to organizers, it is expected that all tickets will be sold. Last year was the first time that they didn’t completely sell out (about 200 tickets remained at the end). With the new building now more than just a dream, it is felt that the 5000 tickets will be gone well before December. Tickets can be purchased during Open House times on Thursdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
