Brian
Tyers, shown in the photo depositing his ballot during the Municipal
Elections held on November 13, feels it is important that people take
the time to exercise their fundamental democratic right to vote. The
voter turnout for the election this time around was approximately 40%
across the region - a disappointing level considering all of the work
that was done by candidates and election workers.
With
the federal election scheduled for November 27, citizens will once again
be asked to step forward to fill out another important ballot. It is
hoped that more people will take the small amount of time needed to make
democracy work.
The
final results of the Ward 3 vote was as follows:
-
Ron Dupuis
2,887 (20%)
-
Louise Portelance 2,617 (16%)
-
Andre Rivest
2,340 (16%)
-
Joe Niceforo
1,916 (13%)
-
Maurice Lamoureux 1,395 (10%)
-
Marc Landry
1,010 (7%)
-
Roger Trottier 1,000 (7%)
-
Leonard Zivny
913 (6%)
-
Nicky Doyon
585 (4%)
