Valley Roads Country Tour Provides Opportunity For Residents To Ask The Experts For Advice

The 2nd Annual Valley Roads Country Tour, held during the last weekend of July, provided residents of the community with an excellent opportunity to ask for advice from the experts from several local businesses. In the photo below, Cindy Ross, on the right, and Micheline Bisaillon in the middle, spent some time talking about herb gardens with Patti Desjardins, owner of the Beaver Creek Herb farm in Hanmer. Patti, who is also a member of the Valley East Economic Development Committee, has been the main driving force behind the Tour for the past two years.

AThe business owners who opened up their facilities and the people who took the time to visit were extremely satisfied with the results of the event,@ commended Desjardins. AIt provided good exposure and gave people a chance to get to know some of the services which are provided right here in Valley East.@

There were five different sites on the tour this year, including: The Valley East Recreational Trail at the Recreation Complex; the Beaver Creek Herb Farm; Paula=s Canine Country Club; Timberlock Garderns; and D&M Hydroponic Gardens & Greenhouse.

A special gift basket full of over $100 of products donated by the businesses was won by Valley East=s Gisele Chartrand. The children=s prize consisting of a bird house kit and a gift certificate from Awesome Play Zone, was won by Kristyn Pascal of Val Caron.

Desjardins expressed appreciation to the major sponsors of the event. The SRDC, the Valley East Economic Development Committee, Country Custom Framing and the City of Valley East, were all instrumental in making sure the Tour was a success. Moncion=s Your Independent Store assisted in the distribution of information pamplets.

Plans are already being made to make next year=s Tour even more appealing to the public.
