It's Time To Acknowledge The People Making
A Difference In Our Community

The Valley East Today Community Web Site has been created for one primary purpose....

TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY!

Valley East Today is a "Living History" of  this rapidly growing community which is becoming quickly recognized as one of the preferred regions of the City of Greater Sudbury. As this web site grows, "one story at a time", it will help develop an image and an identity that everyone will come to know and accept as Valley East.

A VALLEY EAST COMMUNIY BUILDER

Natalie Raymond Gascon would like to introduce us to her mother, Monique Raymond Grenon, who is most deserving of being recognized as a Valley East Community Builder.

Monique has contributed in so many ways to this community and has made a real difference in the life of so many people. Natalie tells us that Monique has been playing ball in the Valley since she was 7 years old (almost half a century of playing ball in Hanmer).

“She is still playing in the Valley East Ladies Slo-Pitch, and is also involved in the executive. She played fast ball in her younger years and I have heard she was a very good player, and was a fantastic Catcher. She also played mixed slo-pitch ball for over 20 years, she was one of the first players that started playing in this league that played with no umpires back then it was just for fun. She played blooper ball before it was slo-pitch. My mother was always involved in the executive with the different league she played on, and was proud to do this. She devoted numerous hours organizing new schedules and helping with the annual banquets from year to year. And even when she could not play for a while because of injuries she would coach and get involved in the game and never missed a game. She is also the one player on our team that goes out and gets our team a sponsor every year. She followed in her parents steps since they both were avid fastball players, and has passed her passion to play ball to me. I am very proud to tell people that I have played slo-pitch with my mother on the same team for over 15 years, not too many can say they played with their parent this long. If there was anyone that can represent the Ladies Ball in Hanmer, it would be my mother Monique Raymond Grenon.”
We thank Natalie for sharing his with us. We invite other readers to feel free to share their thoughts about Monique
