CELEBRATING COUPLES WHO HAVE CHOSEN TO WALK TOGETHER FOREVER

VALLEY EAST TODAY
RECOGNIZES MARRIED COUPLES

Valley East Today is pleased to provide this space to honour married couples who have been married for 50 or more years. We all realize that the tradition of marriage is no longer the same as it once was and it will likely take on a whole new look in the future. The number of couples who experience the thrill of living together in a journey of love for 50 or more years is expected to diminish drastically.

A man from North Bay, Tim Salidas, is trying to organize an event on May 7, 2006 at the Memorial Gardens to bring together couples married for 50, 60 and 70 years or more. He is hoping that the event will attract up to 4,000 people and will enter it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest gathering of its kind.

While we don't expect to have 2,000 couples in this section, we would like to invite readers to send us photos and a brief description of couples from the area who have been married for 50 or more years.

You can bring the photos to our Valley East Today office which is located in the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre, or email the information to rkirwan@infocomcanada.com
